In term 4 I completed the PTC (Preliminary Theological Certificate) unit on Mark’s Gospel. PTC study groups are run at church by trained leaders, including Brian Rumbold (a legend), and term 4’s focus on the Gospel of Mark was incredibly fruitful. It expanded my understanding of God’s word and strengthened the foundations of my faith in Jesus.
I chose to do PTC because there is nothing better than studying the word of God. As a young person who desires to grow and be equipped to share the good news of Jesus, I thought PTC would be a great place to cultivate that growth. Throughout my experience so far, I have been able to dig deep into God’s word and learn more about who Jesus is and his mission during his time on earth. My time in PTC has also provided deeper relationships with those also completing the course.
In term 4 I learnt lots about the Gospel of Mark. Each week, Brian took us through the book chapter by chapter as we uncovered who Jesus is and what he has come to do. It was incredible to see the consistency of Jesus’ love and compassion for his people. His heart truly desires to know and love the lost. It was a joy to be constantly dwelling on the loving nature of our awesome God. Brian went into great depth to help us understand these truths. This unit also equipped me with understanding and zeal for the gospel as I consider a career of full-time ministry.
I would definitely recommend PTC to anyone who desires to understand God and his word at a deeper level. Regardless of demographic, studying God’s word is always fruitful and what better way to do it than with Brian (or one of the other leaders) and a few sweet treats on a Monday night.
As Christians we must always be seeking to share the gospel wherever we go, and PTC units are a great way to equip you for that privilege. I am so thankful to God that I am able to participate in courses like these!
