Parenting Tips to help your school kids thrive

July 27 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

At Christ Church, we love kids and want to support the parents seeking to grow them into well adjusted and happy people! When it comes to Primary school, preparing for change and managing their emotions are key developmental areas. In the first of our Parenting Seminar series, we have asked two experts to give us some tips in how to help our school-age children thrive.

Talk 1: Five Tips to get your child ready for school

In this interview style discussion, Kathryn and some of her colleagues will speak about some of the most important things parents can focus on as they look to their child’s transition into ‘big school’. This discussion will be helpful for parents of kids about to start school, and for those whose kids are in Kindergarten / Stage 1.

Kathryn Trimble is the Director of Christ Church Gladesville Pre-School.

Talk 2: Riding the emotional roller coaster with your school aged child (so you both thrive & not throw up!)

In this seminar, Stephen Dinning will focus on how parents can help their kids understand their emotions and coach them in living well with their emotions. This relatively new line of research has been found to have a great benefit for school kids to thrive as young people and grow the relationship between parents and their children.

Steve is a Family Skills Facilitator with Anglicare and has worked with families as a social worker and an Anglican minister. He is married to Anne and currently they’re navigating the teen years with their daughters Jessica and Rebekah.

If you have a child about to start school, or one in Infants or Primary – it will be a really helpful afternoon!
Registrations essential. If you have kids with you, there will be a kids program during the seminars.
