What is Christ Church Preschool all about?

Christ Church Gladesville Preschool opened in 1978 as an initiativeImage of the Church to provide a high quality Preschool for the families of Gladesville. It is a not-for-profit community-based Preschool, funded and licensed by the NSW Department of Community Services and run by a management committee.

The philosophy of the Preschool is founded on, and shaped by, Christian beliefs and consequently we love and serve God and honour His Son Jesus Christ in all that we do.

What do past and present parents value about Christ Church Preschool?

Image“It is a happy and organised Preschool with great resources.”

“There is wonderful care given to the children.”

“The Preschool makes a difference to so many lives because of how the children are guided and taught.”

Staffing, groups, days of attendance

There are 3 groups of children per day, with 20 children in each group.

ImageSixty children attend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Another sixty attend Thursday and Friday.

An early childhood trained teacher and an assistant staff each group and are supported by the Director, the office administrator, a floating assistant and additional needs support workers.

The program

The daily program for the children is based on  our understanding Imageof the development of the young child, as well as the needs and interests of the children attending.

A stimulating program is created for the children where skills can be learnt and practised in a safe and happy environment.

The 3 groups rotate through indoor activities, outdoor activities and group time during the morning. In the afternoon, the groups have parallel experiences in their own rooms. This program includes lunch, rest, puzzles, games, craft and Bible story time.

ImageThe Preschool’s program is also flexible to accommodate special visitors and events such as the ‘open weeks’ for mothers, fathers, grandparents and new families.

Special books

Over the year, a portfolio of work and photos is put together for each child to keep. This is a great memory of their time at Preschool.

Terms, hours

The Preschool operates with the same term dates as the NSW public schools.

Children attend from 9.00am until 3.00pm.

There is no before- or after-hours care.

Parents of the Preschool

Parents are not neglected in Preschool life, and are encouraged to participate in the program.

Some parents join the management committee.

Each group elects a ‘group parent’ who co-ordinates social activities for the parents and the children during the year.

Events of the Preschool year

Mothers', fathers' and grandparents' weeks are enjoyed by the staff and children as well
as the visitors.
The Preschool organises visits by a variety of performers during the year.

A family church service is held on Sunday at the end of each term. The Preschool children prepare songs to sing at each service.

Children’s Music Evenings in term 4 give the children the opportunity to show the parents some of the music experiences they have been learning over the year.

Fees

Fees are set by the management committee, maintaining a high standard of staffing and resources while keeping fees as low as possible.   The fees in 2010 is $38 per day.

Fees are paid in advance by the term or half-term.

How to register your child on the waiting list

Enrolment at Preschool

In September, the Preschool holds an enrolment evening for parents of the children commencing the following year.

A comprehensive Preschool booklet is provided at the information session after parents have completed the enrolment process and toured the Preschool rooms.

The children enrolled for the coming year visit the Preschool during open fortnight in November.
