 “Jesus Club” is a group specifically catering for the needs of adults with mild intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome, autism and developmental delay.

The group aims to provide fun and friendship for people with special needs, as well as sharing with them the good news of Jesus Christ at a level they can understand. It consists of 10 regular intellectually disabled members and is assisted by a rotating roster of about 10 volunteers.

Each fortnight the group meets for a 3 hour session of games, singing, movies, light exercise and learning from the Bible.

The group will also be run by volunteers with and without experience in the area of disabilities.Due to limited resources, we can only admit a set number of people into the group.

A Message from Phil Wheeler - Senior Minister

Does God care about those with special needs and disabilities?  Far from being forgotten or unloved God has a special concern for those who cannot easily help themselves and maybe open to exploitation by others.  In Psalm 82:3 God tells his people to   ‘Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.  Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked’.  

The Jesus Club is therefore an important ministry in God’s eyes.  Mel Fung and her team show this God like concern for those who have special needs.  Christ Church Gladesville is pleased to host this ministry and want to welcome the members of the Jesus Club and their families to our church.
